TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin) is a single-ply roofing material used mainly on low pitch or no pitch roofs. These type of roofs are used on commercial and residential roofing systems. This type of roofing can be fastened, ballasted, or adhrered. This roofing system is available in limited color options which typically are black, white, or grey.
This roofing system is very popular because it is considered a “green” roofing system because there are no plasticizers added to the material. In addition, it also does not degrade under UV radiation. Most businesses will choose a white color to help reduce the heat in the building and to keep energy costs down. This roof is stronger than a EPDM roofing system and makes this a popular choice for bigger buildings.
